That is a nice looking bird. Reminds me of the lengthy conversation we had through comments.

I should know this, but do the T-birds get hand downs or brand new from factory?

Until they're delivery of these beautiful new Block 52s, they were using some of the oldest Charlie and Delta model Vipers in the fleet. This is the first time in decades that they've gotten "new" equipment to work with.

You think they'll one day transition to Raptors? Or maybe they'll eventually go to JSFs.
:iconatmosphotography:
Raptors no. Too expensive and there are too few Raptors. And you'll never see the T-Birds use a twin engine aircraft again because of the costs of maintaining two engines.

F-35, maybe. There have been discussions about that. I won't believe it until I see it, but being the the Thunderbirds are a recruiting tool, it would seem to be a good idea to get the new hotness out to the world to show it off. That's what they did with the F-16.... twenty-eight years ago.

That's what I thought, but with my experience, God only knows. I can tell you the Army's budget has shifted things around like crazy in my last 9 years in.

That's really good to hear, though it's still a damn shame that the Air Force wont pick up that Block 60 or the F-15 SE. :(
