The Toyota GT-One. when Toyota went to Le Mans, and they found out that the rules said they had to have a trunk on the car. However, the rules didn't say anything about putting fuel in the trunk.
There were just enough road-going versions to fulfill the homologation rules, making the GT-One the first Toyota Supercar.
That's right, this wasn't a prototype car, this was running in the GT1 class. (probably hence the name.)
in '98 this car ran extremely well for the first 16 hours, but two of the three cars started having mechanical problems therefater, and the remaining car finished 9th overall. Not bad for a GT car.
